Regional

For us, regional or local food means conscious consumption.

This can be done virtually anywhere: at the market, in a grocery store, or at a discount store. Fruits and vegetables, in particular, are labeled with the country of origin. But even legumes labeled organic are labeled with information indicating whether they originate from Europe or outside of Europe, and increasingly, this information is combined with the exact country of origin.

Ideally, you should prefer these regional foods because they have several advantages:

Regional products such as kale, apples or year-round oat flakes from Germany are usually harvested riper and marketed directly – especially fresh products.

But you can also buy regional vegetables or fruits, such as berries, in frozen form.

Pesticide use

In any case, this reduces the necessary use of pesticides; this is even better for organic products, as only certain “auxiliaries” are permitted.

Fresh = more inside

Because of the freshness, the food also arrives fresher to you: This means it contains even more vitamins and other ingredients than if it has long delivery routes and/or storage times.

Therefore, prepare and enjoy as fresh as possible.

Support your region

Maybe you have farmers, manufacturers or a farm shop in your immediate area.

Sometimes there are also pick-your-own offers, it doesn’t get any better than that – freshly harvested!

Take advantage of these local opportunities as often as you can and support the people who put a lot of work into these great products.

Here too, supply and demand and, above all, appreciation apply if we want to maintain this in our area

Cost

The argument often comes up that I can't afford it or I don't have the time. But it's ultimately your decision how and what you do. Every little change definitely brings you an advantage. Often, certain regional products aren't necessarily that much more expensive when you consider the advantages and differences compared to "regular" products.

So how about the challenge of buying one or two regional products and being inspired by our recipes?

We bet you'll do it more often!
