The selection is still huge, and with a little sense of adventure, trying something new can be a lot of fun. For vegetables and fruit (dairy products and meat (products)), the indication of origin is mandatory and easy to find.

For products from organic farming, you will find at least a reference to EU or NON-EU farming (or both...) and sometimes even more:

However, during our research in the usual supermarket chains, discount stores, and drugstores, we noticed that many of the dry goods and ready-to-eat products on offer come from non-EU farms, even though the food is grown in Europe.

For products from conventional agriculture, you usually won't find any information at all, because it isn't required.
